Note: Sigalionidae has 1-3 antennae, 1 pair palps, 1-2 pair tentacular cirri. Parapodial ctenidia are situated between the gill and the notopodium. With compound neurosetae. Elytra on alternate segments anteriorly, on every segment after segment 23-29. Sigalionidae can be distinguished by Polynoidae by having compound neurosetae, whereas Polynoidae has simple neurosetae (Banse and Hobson 1974).
