Methot trawl (Meth)

Gear Description
A rigid frame midwater trawl designed to sample pelagic larval and juvenile fish that avoid plankton nets or pass through the mesh of large midwater trawls. The mouth of the frame is a rigid square frame with an area of 5 m square. The bridle attaches at two points to leave the mouth of the net largely unobstructed and vertical at all tow speeds. A modified Isaacs-Kidd depressor or floats can be attached for midwater or surface sampling respectively.
