The Resource Ecology and Ecosystem Modeling Program (REEM) maintains a database of the food habits of North Pacific groundfish. As of March 2016, the REEM Fish Food Habits Database contains diet information from 410,283 stomachs. Collection of these stomach samples is accomplised during NMFS assessment surveys, NMFS research cruises, and aboard commercial fishing vessels by fishery observers. Stomach samples from many species have been collected and analyzed since the 1980s. For each predator listed in the menu below, the total number of analyzed stomachs in the REEM Fish Food Habits Database is shown by year for the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, and Gulf of Alaska. The number in parentheses indicates the number of analyzed stomach samples collected only during NMFS assessment surveys and links to information showing a diet summary for those fish. Diet data collected from sources other than the NMFS surveys are not available through this web interface. Contact Kerim Aydin for further details and access to non-survey data.
